2 Killed, 5 Injured in Toronto Festival Shooting

Five people were injured and two others were killed after a shooting erupted during the Salsa on St. Clair street festival in Midtown Toronto on Saturday, prompting a major police response.

According to Toronto Police, officers arrived at the scene and found five people suffering from gunshot wounds. Two victims were pronounced dead at the scene, while the conditions of the remaining injured victims have not yet been disclosed.

The shooting took place during the annual Salsa on St. Clair festival, a popular Latin cultural event that attracts thousands of visitors each year.

Authorities issued an emergency alert urging the public to avoid the area and follow police instructions as officers secured the scene and launched an investigation.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney expressed shock over the incident, saying he was “horrified” by the shooting and pledged full support to law enforcement in bringing those responsible to justice.

“My prayers are with the families grieving their loved ones, those who are in critical condition, and everyone affected by this horrific event,” Carney said in a statement posted on X.

Toronto Police have not yet released information regarding a suspect, possible motive, or any arrests. Officials said further updates will be shared as the investigation progresses.
