Babar Azam Returns Home Following T20 World Cup Exit

Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan’s cricket team, has returned home to Lahore following the team’s early exit from the T20 World Cup in the USA. He flew via Dubai from New York and is expected to meet with PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi in the coming days to review the team’s performance during the tournament.

After their elimination from the T20 World Cup, several players, including Babar Azam, Haris Rauf, Imad Wasim, Azam Khan, and Mohammad Amir, did not accompany the team back to Pakistan. Reports suggest that Babar Azam, along with Shadab Khan and others, minimized their public appearances in the US following strong criticism from both fans and media.

During this period, a video of Haris Rauf confronting a fan who had directed negative comments towards him went viral on social media. This incident intensified public scrutiny and negative attention towards the team.

In the aftermath of Pakistan’s disappointing performance in the T20 World Cup, former cricketer Basit Ali criticized the team’s administration and alleged favoritism in player selection. He particularly pointed out issues with Babar Azam’s leadership and the team’s strategic decisions.

Meanwhile, former pacer Shoaib Akhtar expressed disappointment over Pakistan’s close defeat to India, criticizing the team’s approach and strategic execution during the crucial match.
