Australia announces to remove Queen Elizbeth’s image from banknotes

Australia’s central bank has announced that a new design honouring the nation’s Indigenous past will replace the image of Queen Elizabeth II on its $5 bill.

The federal government, which concurs with the modification, was consulted before this decision was taken. The Australian Parliament will still be visible on the banknote’s reverse side.
