Supreme Court resumes hearing on Punjab and KP elections.
The Supreme Court has resumed hearing on Pakistan Tehreek-e-(PTI) Insaf’s petition regarding the date of the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa elections.
The case is being heard by a five-member higher bench led by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial.
The bench also includes Justices Ijaz Ul Ahsan, Munib Akhtar, Amin-Ud-Din Khan, and Jamal Khan Mandokhail, in addition to the CJP.
The Imran Khan-led party had challenged the decision of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to postpone the Punjab elections until October 8.

The announcement by the electoral body came after financial and security authorities expressed their inability to support the electoral process.
Following this, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Haji Ghulam Ali urged the electoral body to hold general elections on the same date (October 8) as the Punjab polls, citing the growing security threats posed by terror groups operating along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
The ruling alliance decided to become a party in the case just hours before the hearing resumed on Tuesday.
The Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan Peoples Party, and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) have filed petitions in the Supreme Court to form a party and will present their position when the hearing resumes
