Mob attacks police station, lynches alleged “blasphemy” suspects

Mob attacks police station, lynches alleged blasphemy suspects

When asked why police didn’t disperse the throng, Tahir Ashrafi responded that it was “unIslamic” and that the Punjab police chief has suspended the DSP and SHO from Nankana. The police commissioner in Lahore ordered an investigation and suspended the Nankana DSP and the pertinent SHO after a middle-aged man was lynched outside a police station in Nankana Sahib on Saturday amid blasphemy accusations.

According to the police, Muhammad Waris, 45, of Nankana’s Qazi Town neighbourhood, was initially held by residents over an alleged sacrilege of the Holy Quran early in the morning. When police officers came on the scene and took the culprit to the neighbourhood police station, the locals were preparing to “hang the criminal.”

But when the mob grew in size, it followed the party to the police station and attempted to seize the suspect. Authorities imprisoned Mr. Waris inside the police station, but the crowd that had gathered outside kept clamouring for the accused’s arrest.

Eventually, the outraged mob rushed the police station, entered its grounds through its roof, and was able to destroy the police station’s entrance gate. According to reports, the mob broke inside the lock-up and carried the guy away while police officers watched.

The culprit was then escorted outside the police station, where the disorderly throng battered him to death. Police intervened to stop the mob from lighting the body on fire but police intervened and managed to take corpse away

On social media, there were also other unreliable videos relating to the lynching incident. One video shows individuals attempting to force their way past the police station’s gate by scaling it. In addition, this footage revealed a sizable crowd of individuals outside the structure who had flocked to the police station in response to accusations of blasphemy against the murdered suspect. Another video showed a mob of angry people running around inside the police station, amidst the scene’s shattered furniture and window panes.
