By-election voting is now taking place in Rajanpur's NA-193
Notwithstanding the Punjab caretaker government’s concerns about security, the by-elections for Rajanpur‘s NA-193 National Assembly seat began on Sunday. Upon the passing of PTI’s Sardar Jaffar Khan Leghari in December 2022, the NA-193 seat became vacant.

There are now 11 candidates running for office. Yet the race between Mohsin Leghari of the PTI and Ammar Leghari of the PML-N is anticipated to be close.

Imran Khan, the PTI’s chairman, had previously been proposed as a contender. But, earlier this month, the former prime minister announced his withdrawal from consideration, ostensibly to avoid being potentially disqualified due to the Tyrian White issue.

Today’s voting in Rajanpur started at 8am and will last until 5pm. There are 379,204 registered voters in the constituency, of whom 206,497 are men and 172,709 are women, according to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

According to the commission, 237 polling places have been set up in the district. More than 200 members of the Punjab Rangers are also working as a quick response force, it was claimed. Voters may be seen gathered inside voting places in videos that the electoral commission has released today.
