BISP announced Rs. 55b for kifalat beneficiaries

ISLAMABAD: Beginning on Monday, beneficiaries of the Kafaalat programme will get the first quarterly instalment of Rs 7,000 from the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) for the year 2023.

Over Rs55 billion would be distributed to approximately 7.7 million families in the first phase. From the payment centres or biometric ATMs, the recipients—women and transgender people—from Islamabad, Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan would get their funds.

Shazia Marri, the Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety and Chairperson of the BISP, promised beneficiaries in a statement that she would do everything in her power to ensure openness in the distribution of funds.

She instructed the recipients to collect their entire Rs. 7,000 instalment and to forget to request a payment receipt by the relevant quarter. She added that this amount would not be subject to deductions or payment penalties. “Beneficiaries should immediately report to BISP’s toll-free hotline 080026477 or call the local BISP Tehsil Office,” she insisted. “If someone requests any form of deduction or fee for payment.”

Shazia informed the recipients that only messages transmitted by the BISP would originate from the number 8171, and that all other messages were bogus and fraudulent.
